Migration tool from v2 to v3
complete
IndyGibb
I just got Voicemod V3, and was very sad to see there wasn't an easy way to port my custom soundboard from V2 to V3. I am a pro member and I have 71 sounds on the soundboard, and I am currently going through the process of manually finding the data files from V2, changing them to .mp3 files, and importing them to V3, changing the names and adding the pictures. For how useful and good of a software Voicemod is, the lack of this feature for those porting is really a downfall. It was also very difficult to find the link to download V3, which I wanted to get to use with the mobile app.

coke Glad to see this finally arrived, hopefully more users will be on V3 now to help request new features and report bugs.
Just now waiting for the new Stream Deck plugin as well as some returning features from V2 Voicemod.

NorthernLaw Thanks for your words.
BTW, we recently launched a new version of the Stream Deck plugin adapted for v3, but I didn't tell you anything because it's just a first step toward getting the buttons that weren't working before to work. It hasn't been completely redone to fix problems like the ones you told me about. We are still working on it.
NorthernLaw
coke Glad to hear that! Any chance you could (if its not already done, and if it is direct me to it) create a "in progress" card for the Plugin Overhaul? Since it's being redone from the ground up, would benefit a lot of people so it could be important to let people know it's being worked on.

To avoid creating a new one, I would recommend following this one:
which should be included in that complete review.
NorthernLaw
coke I like that feedback actually.
What I mean though is why not make an overall feedback yourself just titled "Stream Deck Plugin Overhaul" or something like that and any feedback related to the Stream Deck plugin can be filtered into that one post, also you could include a quick description on that since the main post would be yours anyways showcasing what exactly you plan to rework with the plugin.
Just an idea, not necessary but would be cool. Keeps everyone informed on the timeline and what's going into the new SD plugin.

NorthernLaw At some point, we will take that step, not only with the development of the new plugin, but also with the rest of the features... but we're not there yet. Thank you for your feedback in any case.
NorthernLaw
coke Fair enough, do you happen to have a ballpark on when we can expect the plugin to be finished? Extremely vague, like before the end of 2025??

NorthernLaw I would like to tell you that I hope we have something or part of the plugin, at least the solution to your problem, this Q, but we are entering a busy period soon and it will be complicated.
On the other hand, you can see what has happened with the migration tool. These are developments that improve life in the long term and increase retention, but they do not change short-term conversion, and it is a complicated balance when choosing developments.
In any case, thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
NorthernLaw
coke Unfortunately, yes I do understand conversions, a new plugin won't exactly help you get new customers.
It's just unfortunate as a long-time user being completely unable to use Voicemod for going on 1 year+ now since the plugin isn't functioning as it should. Yes the app itself works fine, but I can only use the app through Stream Deck as when it comes to practical use, tabbing out to play a sound is not practical in the slightest. Stream Deck is necessary for I'd assume most people to use the soundboard as it's meant to be used.
You can't rush development, and I'm glad people finally have their migration tool, but I do really hope that I can begin to use the plugin again soon.
At this point, I could have waited for the migration tool before manually re-doing my entire soundboard. Figured the issue would be fixed long before the migration tool was added. I'm not too mad about that since I needed to re-organize everything anyways and I have since done that and am pretty happy with the result. I just need a way to use my sounds now is all.
I will say I did notice the minor changes you made to the Voicemod plugin thus far and the new icons are definitely nice, my problem was still persisting as I'm sure you are aware, and another issue I noticed was Voicemod not being detected as open by Stream Deck. I'm sure that'll all be fixed once the plugin is redone though.
Thank you and please update again soon, I'd even beta test the new version once it's out if that's something that is possible to do! I can report back any issues or whatever is necessary, you have my Discord @NorthernLaw, feel free to message whenever! I'll be eagerly awaiting an update!
The good news is, I just started a pretty big project of downloading all the sounds I've been meaning to download so I got another handful of days before I'm done downloading, trimming, organizing, and adding all these sounds to Voicemod. Once I can use it, my new soundboard is going to be better than ever!

NorthernLaw Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind if possible.
I'm glad to hear you're still working on a new soundboard.
Ryuko
Amazing that this is STILL in progress. Push push push for their users to move to V3, yet they don't give us a tool for migrating easily, and when marked as in progress, their only update is that it's "more challenging than expected". No other reasons or explanations given.
I currently refuse to move to V3. And I may not move to V3 even after they finish their migration tool. I'm tired of it and I barely even used it. And after how long it's been out, I just don't like the UI of V3.

Ryuko I know it's hard to believe us because of all the delays that have accumulated, but it's very close...

When will this be ready?
WhyNoFunny
Trevor Poitra when I asked that the first time in their server they said early June. Next late June. Then July. It keeps getting pushed back. I’m hoping it will be ready in maybe a month but who knows.
Juan
WhyNoFunny: Unfortunately, it's still ongoing, as the migration tool is being more challenging than expected, but we hope to get it up and ready on the upcoming next months!
WhyNoFunny
Juan Nice! As long as it will work well.

import tool from soundboard 2.x to 3.0
DanDudeAmiga
would be very nice to import all my sounds (in my own soundboard profile) from Voicemod 2.x to 3.0 including moving the sounds to the new folder. I have too many sounds to add one-by-one. I'm not joking!

Why is there no import option on V3?
John Holder
I understand there's a cloud save feature now but now I have to just manually redo all my settings and soundboards anyway, why wasn't the the import feature put in v3 for people who updated the app? This makes no sense and honestly since I've lost all my soundboards I might as well switch to something else or just use steamdeck. I hardly ever used the voices anyway and w/ my mixer I can do well over half of them as it is already.

Shouldn't get shutdown Voicemod v2
Homix
For me the Voicemod V2 feels way better than the v3, its simpler, easier to use and at this point idc about voices cause they're all bad. Voicemod v2 souldn't get shutdown cause people still want to use it so please just offer the migration instead of forcing it, thanks.
Anatoli01
yeah they got me fucked up they think im usin v3 without a transfer option lmao
