Feature Request: Optional Update Check Mechanism for Better Accessibility
Congroo E1
Dear Voicemod Team,
I’d like to suggest an improvement regarding the software’s startup behavior. Currently, Voicemod forces an automatic update check upon every launch. For users in regions requiring VPN access (like myself), this often blocks the software from starting — either due to update check failures or extremely long delays. In most cases, the failed check prevents the software from launching entirely.
I’ve followed your official troubleshooting steps (reinstalling, adjusting firewall settings, network configurations, etc.), but these haven’t reliably resolved the issue.
Suggestion:
Could you add an option to skip the forced update check during startup? For example:
- Implement an in-app update prompt (e.g., a dismissible pop-up) allowing users to manually check for updates when their network connection is stable.
This change would significantly improve accessibility for users with unstable or restricted networks while maintaining update awareness.
Thank you for considering this request!

Program Updates

Every time the app has an update, it stops modding my voice in discord or other apps. I tend to leave the program open, so it'd be nice to have an indicator that there's an update and to be able to activate/install it from within the program.

That would be a known issue: https://voicemod.canny.io/desktop-feedback-board/p/constantly-having-to-update-but-i-already-have-the-version-voicemod-v3 [Check the pinned message]

Congroo E1, that update checker should be fast, or is it updating on every startup?
Because that would be a known issue: https://voicemod.canny.io/desktop-feedback-board/p/constantly-having-to-update-but-i-already-have-the-version-voicemod-v3 [Check the pinned message]
In any case, the update checker is already requested: https://voicemod.canny.io/desktop-feedback-board/p/changelog-previous-versions-version-update-checker
